You can get to the island of Thassos from the port of Keramoti, reaching the port of Limenas in about 40 minutes.
You can also reach Thassos from the port of Kavala where you can take the ferry to Skala Prinos in about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
By plane you can reach the airport of Kavala, Alexander the Great and then drive for about 15 minutes to the port of Keramoti.
From Thessaloniki's International airport Macedonia you can reach the port of Kavala in about 2 hours and the port of Keramoti in about 2 and a half hours.

The tallest summit in Thassos is Ypsario or Psario with an altitude of 1208 metres. The eastern part of the island is mountainous and rocky with high cliffs over the sea surface. Nevertheless, the western part of the island has lower altitude, and its vast and fertile plain is full of rich olive groves. The forests of Thassos are prominent. They are filled with firs, oaks, pines and planes. Formerly, the virgin forest was covering the whole surface of the island, but a big part of it was burnt by the great fires during the decade of 1980. Apart from the flora, the fauna is also rich in Thassos! The scent of thyme and honey dominate the island, indicating the presence of hundreds of beehives, grown with care by the locals, while at the mountain one will see herds of sheep and goats, that encourage farming on the island. The first habitants of the Island were the people of Phoenicia. The island was named after Thassos, the son of the Phoenician king, Anigoras. Prince Thassos arrived at the island seeking for his sister Europa who was abducted by Zeus.
Giola is a natural rocky pool that is located in the region of Astris. The height of the rocks reaches up to 8m from where the swimmers can dive into the clear waters. The course towards Giola is tough and you will have to walk.
In order to arrive at Giola, drive from Poto to Astris. After the hotel Aeria you will find a sign indicating to Sirens. Turn left and follow the dirt-road. After a while you will get to a beach. There, you can park your vehicle since the route becomes tougher. Ascend the road on your left, where you can also park your car further ahead. From that spot, descend towards the shore. There are many signs and signals with arrows showing the direction. It is recommended that you 4 by 4 or an off-road vehicle. The overall distance from the main road is about 2km.

Thelogos is a country-style hillside village at an altitude of 220m at the south-eastern part of the island. It is 50 kilometers far from Limenas and 10 kilometers far from Poto. Its population is 800 people whose main income source is tourism during the summer and agriculture or kettle-breeding during the winter.
The first records in manuscripts for the existence of this thorp date back to 1287. Theologos is a traditional group of dwellings, with narrow alleys paved with slabs influenced by the Macedonian architecture. It was characterized as Cultural Capital in 1979 and since then certain regulations have been established regarding the construction and restoration of the buildings. In the area there is an old stone bridge that gives access to Astris.
The village of Theologos maintains its tradition and culture. Every summer, a revival of the Thassian folk wedding takes place. The village is renowned for its cuisine and in particular for its meaty tastes such as the famous kiddling. At the village you will have the opportunity to visit the folkloric museum in the mansion-house Hatzigiorgi as well as some churches. On your course towards Theologos you will meet the necropolis dating back to the 8th century B.C.
